❗️ For reservations, please use the link below or contact the accommodation provider directly. 📞✉️ 👉 https://count-kalnokys-transylvanian-guesthouses.pynbooking.direct/booking-engine/  Our guesthouses located in 4 traditional cottages in the Transylvanian village of Miklósvár/ Micloșoara date back to the 1800’s and before. You can choose any accomodation from 10 rooms, the total capacity being ideal for 20 persons.  The buildings have been carefully restored in order to preserve their original charm and character, beautifully furnished with antiques in the Transylvanian Szekler and Saxon styles.  The cottages are situated within spacious gardens, some with storks nesting on nearby rooftops. Entering the cottage feels like stepping into a Brothers Grimm fairytale. Stout oak beams underpin the roof and rough plaster lines the walls, while an antique ceramic stove pumps out warmth and shuttered windows peep onto the moonlit courtyard.  All rooms have two double beds with custom-made, pure wool, mattresses. To complete the area's atmosphere of peace and tranquility, each room has its own small collection of rare books but no TV or radio set. Each room has an electric kettle and a good selection of teas and coffee. The bathrooms are luxuriously equipped and decorated.  We offer a number of cultural and natural excursions, one taking place every day of the week on a set schedule. In addition, we offer horse-riding treks for the experienced, or lessons for beginners at our nearby stables.  The museum hosted by Kalnoky Castle - the newly restored renaissance manor is open to our guests and you can even dive into the clear water of its decorative pond in the summer heat.

❗️ IMPORTANT! Temporarily closed for renovation. 🏰 The Daniel-castle, as well as the park surrounding it, is one of the most well-known monuments in Erdővidék. The details of the building-complex strung along the longitudinal east-west axis are witnessing the sequences of several rebuilding’s and restorations. The chronology of the building process can also be described from east to west. Its earliest wing, namely the flat ceiling room of the main building and the intersecting-barrel-vaulted one, has allegedly been built in the late 16th century. In the mid-17th century, Ferenc Daniel expanded the building with several rooms with a westward view. Also, it is very likely that he was the one building the protection gallery on the northern facade, which has since been included into the overall volume of the building. 📜 The castle became famous mostly for its many late renaissance stone carvings that adorn its southern facade, but none of them – except for the pillars of the loggia – is in its initial spot. In 1687, one of the most spectacular structural elements of the castle, the southern arcaded portico, was erected thanks to István Daniel. At the corners of the main building, the three baroque avant-corps with curved gables, framing from both, the right- and the left-hand-side the cross-vaulted arches of the loggia arcade were also built by István Daniel, who was known to have been the famous chief royal judge of Udvarhelyszék in 1723. The main entry, just as it can still be seen today, must have been built during the aforementioned reparations, too, because its frame bears fragments of similar late renaissance stone carvings. 🧱 Elek Daniel started a somewhat more comprehensive construction in 1797, resulting in the levelled wing of the palace, as well as the penthouse roof on the main building. Inserted between the windows with segmental arches, the huge double coat-of-arms made of sandstone bears the inscription „1745”. The embellished carving was probably ordered to mark the election of István Daniel as chief royal judge of Scaunul Odorheiului/ Udvarhelyszék, and it represented the coat-of-arms of the castle owner, and also that of his wife, Perki Polyxena. Gábor Daniel erected the two-levelled circular bastion attached to the south-western corner of the palace wing between 1850 and 1853. During the same period, a neoclassical wing was added to the northern face of the main building. ⚜️ The castle was amended with several new elements throughout the 20th century. Somewhere around 1920, Ferenc Daniel attached a round bastion to the north-eastern corner of the neoclassical wing, and in 1937 he had the last extension works concluded. The westward open loggia, with the little belfry in its corner, was also built in that very period. Such as the northern, two-levelled stone loggia, recalling a somewhat renaissance atmosphere, which was duly accomplished under the guidance of the art historian József Keöpeczi Sebestyén.  🔗  Text source: https://www.virtualisszekelyfold.ro/en/pano/28

❗️ We recommend prior consultation before visiting. 📞  📜 Throughout history, there have always been those "Return Home, Wanderer" who, sadly, could never return home, much as they would have liked to. Such was Kelemen Mikes, author of the Letters from Turkey, chamberlain to Ferenc Rákóczi II. Visit the Szentkereszty Castle, where the writer and translator spent part of his childhood. After the confiscation of his estates, the Szentkereszty family inherited the building. It is now a museum with memorial rooms to Kelemen Mikes, Vilmos Csutak, Manyi Kiss and Géza Domokos. ⚜️ This manor from Zagon is one of the most significant buildings of the Mikes family, and it already existed in the 17th century, as indicated by an inscription in one of the beams, which includes the year number 1632, and the initials B:M and E:D.

Since then, the edifice has suffered many transformations, but there is one thing that has not changed: the murals, which can be considered its trademark. These frescoes, found both on the inside and outside wall, present the Daniel family and scenes from the political life of that period.  😊 Try out the comfort of an old castle where each room is different, where century-old wooden elements are combined with traditional style in a modern way. Spend your night in the Constantinopol Room and find out what story the wall painting above your head hides. It contains two buildings: one is a mansion built in 1801, with two rooms, two bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen, and the other was built later, in the same style, with six rooms - with bathrooms - , a living room and a fully equipped kitchen. 🛏️  🥕🧀 Our guesthouse focuses on a healthy diet and the environment from this area is perfect for this. We offer homemade food, prepared from our own production (vegetables, fruit, eggs, milk, bread, cheese etc). Our healthy diet started a few years ago, when I was diagnosed with a dangerous type of skin cancer and I said no to chemotherapy and changed my whole life on the basis "help yourself and God will help you too!".  Thanks to this location, we produced everything we could, I started to bake leavened rye bread with sesame seeds and flax. I started to learn about herbs and today I am already producing some of them. I started oxygen therapy by taking long forest walks, even several times a day. Thanks to these I am totally fine.  🧡 Our offers include: hiking on woody trails, a ride in a horse drawn cart, horseback riding, sleigh rides, mushroom picking, animal petting, chicken feeding, crop harvesting, gathering of herbs, bread baking with leavening agent, pig-sticking.  On request, we have also organized hunting experiences. This region is rich in wildlife. Our guests are considered family members, therefore tour guide and airport transportation is also included in our offer. We welcome vegetarians, offering the full board. 🌿  ✨ If you wish to relax, Bicfalău is the ideal place for you, with squirrels running around, the colorful world of birds, the smell of the forest. The Reformed Church Castle of this locality was built in 1863. Its defensive walls with battlements are from the Middle Ages. As this settlement was a former border guard, many mansions were built in this area between the 18-19th century.  This village is going to be declared a World Heritage Site. Behind the village, on the mountain located above the confluence of the streams Csigavár and Csuklyán, an early medieval remains of a watchtower, called Csigavár (Snail’s Castle) is waiting its visitors. The popular belief is that a giant lived there. A few minutes away from the guesthouse, from Zákány Peak, along the Carpathians, you may admire the landcape of the Basins of (Háromszék) Three Chairs and Bârsei Region.   🗺️ At a distance of 55 km from Bicfalău you may visit the only intact volcanic crater lake of Central and Eastern Europe, the St. Anne Lake, one of the most famous natural attractions of Szeklerland. Nearby attractions: Brașov (The Black Church), Sfântu Gheorghe (The Székely National Museum, the Reformed Fortified Church), Târgu Secuiesc (courtyard spaces, doll museum), Covasna (mineral water, mofettas), Hărman (the fortified church), the Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle) and Băile Tușnad (Ciucas Lake, mineral bath complex, bear watching).
