Pizzerias from Sfântu Gheorghe didn`t stop their activity during the coronavirus period. The restaurants are still closed, but home delivery didn’t stop at all. We asked Benkő Biró Zoltán, the administrator of Pizza Americana Follies about the effects of the coronavirus regulations upon the pizzeria, and about their strategy to survive this period.

Could you tell us about the pizzeria, since when is functioning, is it special in some way?

Our pizzeria is four and a half years old; which is quite young on Saint George’s market. Our speciality is that we function in ”all you can eat” system, which means that we have a general price you have to pay and you can eat as much as you like, our guests just love it.

How was your business affected by the regulations introduced to reduce coronavirus infections? Was it hard to adapt to the new situation?

It affected us very badly. Our sales halved immediately as we closed the restaurant. We try to survive by home delivery, because we have 19 employees. For us it’s very important to stay open, because we have to assure the income to our employees and also not to lose our clients.

What kind of regulations did you introduce?

The rules were clear since we opened. At the moment we have the same rules and we respect them, only they are a bit stricter - we clean with stronger disinfectants and we do it more often. We take great care of disinfecting, hygiene, cleanliness of our hands and of the room, and we also take care when we pick up the goods. If it’s necessary we disinfect every two hours, not only in the morning and evening. We do everything possible, because it’s normal that in a place like this has to be clean - we work with food.

What do you think about the future?

Thinking about the future I hope that things will go back to normal, but I also hope that it will be even better, if not soon.

You can find the pizzeria at Sfântu Gheorghe, 1918. December 1. street, and you can order on weekdays from 8:30 am to 22:00 pm, on weekend from 9:30 am to 22:00 pm by phone 0770 404 404 or on their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pizzaamericanafollies/).
