About

🔸 Calnic is a tiny village located 12 km from Sfântu Gheorghe, at the foothills of Baraolt Mountains, in the valley of Calnic creek. The first record of the village dates back to 1225. In 1332 the village is mentioned as Kálnuk, in 1459 as Kálmon. In the 16th century 11 houses were registered in the village, all of which were inhabited by the Bedő family. The Kálnoky family has its origins here as well.

⚜️ The Gelei house was built in 1950 by Károly Szabó and Irén Bedő. The master of folk arts, András Bálint, designed and conducted the construction works in the typical rustic style of the village. The building is made of wood and has a tile roof. On the tympanum of the building lays the coat of arms of the árkosi Gelei family as it became their property through inheritance.

🏡 The layout of the interior has undergone several transformations, presently prevailing the rustic style. The house consists of a large bedroom suitable for two people, which opens into a well-equipped modern kitchen from where you can enter the living room/reading room, equipped with a pull-out sofa. The terrace is built in a classicist style. The propriety has a green garden filled with trees, benches and a barbeque place, making it an excellent destination for people that are looking for a getaway in a discreet and relaxing environment. 🌿 🤎
