Opened on June 5, the Clermont Hotel in Covasna awaits its guests in the utmost safety. As the next stop of our “Visit Covasna Safe Place” campaign, we visited the hotel’s marketing and booking director, Ovidiu Olariu.

Can you tell us a bit about your hotel? What kind of services do you offer?
Hotel Clermont was the first 4-star hotel from the city of Covasna and among the first from the county. In 2010 we finished working on an expansion which increased the hotel’s total capacity to our current 106 rooms, all of which are ranked as 4 stars. We have been trying to offer a mix of services to help us function uninterruptedly all year round, so as not to rely exclusively on balneotherapy.

How can tourists visiting the location spend their time?
From the very beginning we have been offering a variety of free time activities which we have improved along the way, including massage and wellness facilities and an indoors swimming pool that has been expanded with an outside jacuzzi. Outdoors, our clients can can spend their time on our multifunctional tennis and footbal court, biking, wall climbing, ziplining, practicing archery or playing table tennis. Indoors, they can go bowling, make use of the gym, or play pool and table tennis.

What type of safety measures have you implemented to make tourists feel safe in your hotel?
We have approached safety from two directions. Firstly, to conform to all regulations imposed by the authorities. Secondly, to see what other measures we can add on our own and ensure that potential clients feel safe at Clermont. We have additionally decided to use ultraviolet lights to disinfect our rooms, so after each check-out when the rooms are being cleaned and readied for our guests we also disinfect them with ultraviolet lamps.

What do you think about the future?
Whether or not we will be able to offer our full range of services will largely depend on the government’s policy about easing restrictions. This will determine whether we are able to save 2020 and lay the groundwork for 2021 to be a far better year than this one. Currently we are optimstic.
