We invite you in our farm in order to relax around a treasury of cultural exception: Lipizzan horses!
The Bartha’s Farm’ and the Lipizzan Horse Club’s headquarters are located near the village of Chichiş, in the beautiful area of the Piatra Mare, Făgăraş, Bucegi, Piatra Craiului and Ciucaş mountains.
The farm history began in 1992, with purchasing two mares of the Favory and Conversano bloodlines and two stallions of the Siglavy Capriola and Maestoso bloodlines from the Stud Farm of Sâmbăta de Jos. After a period of search for an optimal agricultural land for the breeding and growing of these Lipizzan horses, the owner found an overall of 40 ha in Chichiş, out of which 30 ha is pasture and 10 ha is arable and grassland. The Bartha’s Farm has a total of 47 horses, out of which 12 are mares, 25 foals, and 10 race horses. The farm finished its riding arena last year, on the top of which was built a hostel of 16 places, mostly used for equestrian conferences, and different types of family events. The Bartha’s Farm is both for the Lipizzaner horse lovers and nature enthusiasts. The trail excursions are very popular at the Bartha’s Farm and usually begin in May and last until November. They are both for beginners and advanced riders. The 3-5 day hikes on horseback take the rider to the adjacent mountains and the package includes accommodation and demi-pension at the farm.
The one-week summer camps for children take place in July and August, each day with three-hour equestrian activities in the morning and evening. Robert Bartha and his son are permanent participants of national and international carriage competitions.
Other services and activities:
· hostel for horses (in boxes or outside the barn)
· horse training for saddle and carriage
· carriage or sleigh rides
· BBQ party for families or groups of children
· holiday farm, with specific activities on the farm: feeding animals, cleaning stalls, training horses, etc.

Count Kálnoky's Transilvanian Equestrian Center in Valea Crișului offers riding lessons for children and adults, but also organises three and six-day rides through the most beautiful and remote villages of the region of Baraolt and its surroundings. The tours lead through Valea Zălanului, Bățanii Mici, Filia and Micloșoara, but they don't avoid forests and wildflower meadows.
The horses are sure-footed and have routine, but their temperament is different. To apply, you must be familiar with the three gaits, have trail riding experience and be physically fit.
The Kálnoky‘s belong to the oldest magnates of Transylvania. Members of the family led the Szeklers in the defence of Transylvania for centuries, constantly having to fight against intruding Mongols, Turks and Tartars. Antal Kálnoky set up the first Transylvanian regiment of hussars which remained in service until the end of World War I. He was the last to successfully apply war tactics inherited by the ancient Szekler riding tribes of the steppes, during the 7-year-war (1757). Hugo Leopold was celebrated as one of the best rider of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy in the late 19th century.
The Kálnoky Equestrian Center has formed a young generation with excellent equestrian skills. The riding school organizes training courses with national and international horse trainers. The center has an outdoor and an indoor riding manége. The main activities include riding lessons, pony riding and trail tours of three and six days.
Summer camps for groups of max. 15 children are also organised. In addition to riding, children are introduced to a variety of creative occupations.
The horse riding center organizes riding lessons for children and adults, equestrian camps, horse riding and pony rides for children.

🐴 Children can start riding on a Shetland pony at the age of 3 (and up until age 7-8, or maximum 30 kg). Horse riding can really begin at the age of 8-9, when the child has enough muscle strength and the ability to concentrate for a longer time. Beginners would start their lesson with the horse being on the lead, learning how to sit correctly and doing exercises that help finding their balance on horseback.
🐎 Experienced riders (who can walk, trot and canter) can choose to hack out with a local guide to the fields and woods around the village. There are treks of 1-2 hours, or day rides that include a picnic. The scenery is worthy in every season. 🌲☀️
On special request we can organize longer rides with overnight stops at guesthouses in the neighboring villages.
👧👦 We warmly welcome groups of children from schools and kindergartens, offering them the opportunity to discover the world of horses through:
• age-appropriate introductory riding lessons,
• horseback riding and pony rides,
• educational activities that develop confidence, balance, and a love for animals.
❗️ You need to book in advance to visit.
We look forward to seeing you! 🤎
