About

✨"This exhibition is not just a visual experience—for me, it is a liberation that comes from within. It is an autonomous confession that reveals the connections between the visible and the invisible, the mysterious and often forgotten aspects of female existence."💛

Réka L. Deák was born in Sfântu Gheorghe into a family of visual artists and grew up in the world of theater. Although she initially trained for a technical career, she eventually graduated from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, specializing in scenography (set and costume design).

Throughout her career, she has collaborated with numerous theaters in Transylvania and Hungary, was a founding member of Csíki Játékszín, and in addition to her theatrical work, she has designed sets for several exhibitions and has also participated in exhibitions as an artist.

🎭In 2003, she moved with her family from Budapest to Békéscsaba, where, since 2005, she has been a founding member of the Napsugár Puppet Theater. The daily challenges of the world of theater and puppet theater have led her to experiment with numerous techniques, the results of which can be found, as a synthesis, in the present exhibition.

👗Costumes are not just pieces of clothing, but carriers of messages and meanings. The murals and objects evoke inner worlds, states of mind, and stories - often blurring the boundaries between gender and function, past and present, reality and symbol.
In her work, experimentation, playing with materials, and asking questions that can trigger the viewer's reflection play an essential role: how we see ourselves, what we carry with us - in our clothes, in our bodies, in our gestures - how society shapes us, and how we shape our own story. ✍️

We look forward to seeing you! 💗
