Due attention is paid to those working in tourism

Tourist operators in Covasna County will be awarded in twenty-four categories at this year's edition of the Visit Covasna Gala. The competition, organized for the second time by the Covasna County Tourism Association, the Covasna County Council and the Covasna County Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is open from the 2nd of March.

At this press conference, Grüman Róbert, vice-president of Covasna County Council, emphasized that the priority for the coming years was to strengthen tourism professionals and to promote quality tourism services. The primary purpose of the gala, in addition to recognizing the winners of the various categories, is to put the spotlight on those who work daily to improve tourism in the county. “We want to build a community that contributes to the growth of tourism in Covasna County and the promotion of the area. Our goal is to develop an active, constructive relationship between them. We can achieve a breakthrough by working together and working together. ”

Last year's 18 competition categories were expanded with other six this year: innovation in tourism, confectionery in the professions, food truck, events: sports, cultural and gastronomic. In addition, mansion, boarding house or hotel owners, bartenders, waiters, tour guides, online tourism marketers, horse riding or restaurant operators will be recognized.

Edler András György, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Covasna County, said that the Visit Covasna Gala is extremely important to them. “In the last few years, we have invested a great deal of energy in developing tourism in the county. This is confirmed by statistical dates. For example, in 2018, the turnover of tourism companies increased by 30 percent, compared to previous years. ” According to Edler, the Tourism Gala is a good opportunity to motivate the players who determine the tourism of the Covasna County. The event will rank the nominees or tourist units in a meaningful way based on a transparent set of objective criteria.

According to László Endre, chairman of the Szeklerland Tourism Cluster, member of the juries, an old dream come true by organizing an event which rewards tourism workers every year, thus encouraging them to work better. This, of course, also has an impact on a better functioning of tourism. According to the data of the National Bureau of Statistics, the county achieved a 15 percent increase in tourist traffic last year, but Covasna county is also one of the three counties of Szeklerland in terms of the number of guest nights.

According to experts, the opening of the airport will mean an increase in the number of city break trips to the area, and the medical facilities of the county should be expanded and promoted. There is a need for a quality explosion in tourism services and closer cooperation with Brasov and Sibiu counties.

The organizers of the Visit Covasna Gala are encouraging everyone to nominate their favorites or themselves between 2 and 10 March. The winners will then be decided by a public vote and a nine-member professional jury. Voting will take place at https://gala.visitcovasna.com/ between March 13-20. The winners will be awarded on Thursday, March 26, at the Gala starting at 5 pm in Sfântu Gheorghe.
